Mufasa Poet – Ken Kibet

Mufasa Poet is a performing artist based in Nairobi, Kenya. A winner of multiple national slam championships, no one comes alive on stage like Mufasa, his words dance with honesty and vulnerability but expressed powerfully enough to literally suspend an audience.  He has graced various national events that include performing before the President and before the Chief Justice of Kenya a number of times.

Education is the key, but with dignity, humility and respect; you have a bunch of keys. –

Raised by a single mother, Mufasa Poet is a passionate performer on stage and hides no emotions when he speaks about his life and disturbing issues in the society. Mufasa Poet’s work is greatly influenced by his inner activism for equality and social justice, while drawing inspiration from; God, life experiences, personalities such as the late Wangari Maathai, Patrice Lumumba, Malala Yousafzai, and a field of worldwide creative that include choreographer Sonya Tayeh, UK singer Emile Sande, Kenya’s band- Sarabi.

RECORDINGS AND PERFORMANCES
Mufasa launched his first spoken word album on 12th of October 2014 at Alliance Française, Nairobi, at an event dubbed, Unchained Voices.
He has been featured in various local T.V and Radio programs that include;
The Trend, AM Live, and Crossover 101.   (All on NTV)

Mishoni, Alfajiri, Talk Central and Arena 254.  (All on K24)

Among his performances, he has performed at; The UN WOMEN functions including during the launch of the 16 days of activism against gender based violence in Kenya (2014), at the Annual Kenya Judges and Magistrates Meeting (2013), Ubumuntu Festival (Rwanda), Utam Festival,  launch of Safaricom capture Kenya Challenge, Human rights defenders awards ceremony (2016) in Nairobi, National events at the Supreme Courts of Kenya as well as the launch of the Registry  Manual at Milimani High Courts of Kenya.

OBJECTIVES
·         To be a catalyst of social change by addressing social issues and provoking thoughts of reason on the same.
·         To be an ambassador of cohesion, integration and harmony nationally and globally.
·         To be a voice of a new generation of young people who will be actively involved in instigating positive values in the society as well as in shaping the future of Kenya.
